ABSTRACT

The learning activities suggested in this section were among those used in the inCanto project. These activities were formulated after careful study of the theoretical propositions required for the design of a programme of musical activities suitable for children aged zero to three. In preparing the programme for the children, the educators should focus on the pleasure that children can derive from musical experience and on how this gratification can bring about assimilation of musical models from their own culture. By immersing them in an enjoyable sonorous atmosphere as varied as possible, they are being helped to become more familiar with diverse musical structures. Musical experience can be individual or collective with differing sensations. Individual children can make music spontaneously, at home or in other places, for example at play school, when they are absorbed in themselves.
