ABSTRACT

This chapter explains The Air Transport Future—because there have been significant improvements in Head-Up Displays. Projected Asia-Pacific airline traffic has declined slightly in the past year and in some circles concern has been expressed over the future of Asian markets in the next decade. International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association have led increased development in the Asia-Pacific region. It has included cooperative efforts by Korean Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, British Airways and KLM. Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) is designed to provide navigation capability within the existing air traffic control system and, when it is introduced, Free Flight will utilize the existing WAAS system. It is completely consistent with ICAO's Future Air Navigation System. Europe's answer to air traffic control is the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System. In an effort to increase the effectiveness and productivity of an important part of Air Traffic Control, NASA is constructing a $9.3 million dollar simulator.
