ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on three main parts: the first part is called 'Nordic light on forensic psychology', the second part is on 'Investigative psychology', and the third part is called 'Psychology in court and beyond'. It explores the past and current research activities within the Nordic region with respect to forensic psychology. The book also focuses on different aspects of police officers' deception detection by reviewing research examining officers' beliefs on cues to deception and summarizes what is known about the ability of police officers to detect deception. It reviews on what research tell about how children should be interviewed, and they make the Nordic perspective visible by acknowledging for example the concept of the children's house. The book also presents an overview of different models and methods for evaluating criminal evidence.
