ABSTRACT

In this paper, the process undertaken to design a wearable computer for use by paramedics is described. We employ a method that allows design decisions to be recorded, evaluated and justified during an iterative design cycle. The process comprises four stages, each of which has varying levels of user input. Furthermore, generic requirements are applied to the design concepts throughout the cycle, in order to audit design decisions. The selected design was then developed into a working demonstrator and initial trials of the demonstrator are discussed.
