ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the lack of validation studies on ergonomics’ methods. A review of the literature indicated that there is upward of 60 methods available to the ergonomist. The results of a survey of professional ergonomists indicated that none of the respondents was aware of any documented evidence of the reliability and validity of the methods they were using. This was supported by a review of the literature which shows that validation studies are very sparse. An important goal for future research is to establish the reliability and validity of ergonomics methods.
