ABSTRACT

Subjective measures of workload and situation awareness are invaluable tools for simulation and flight trial studies, but when the subject of the study is related only to a part of an eventful scenario, the effect may be swamped by the influence of the other events. This paper describes a methodology for applying workload and situation awareness (and many other) rating scales to complex scenarios, to give task-timeline related measures at any level of resolution. Examples are given of several different rating scales applied using the C-SAW method.
