ABSTRACT

The team operator modelling environment (TOME) is a computer tool for modelling the behaviour of military teams. The theory underpinning the model defines a team structure as a set of individuals each possessing sets of competences enabling them to carry out certain classes of task. Each team member has a set of relationships with other members of the team which specifies how they relate when handling tasks together. The team behaves when activated by a set of events from a scenario and responds to them according a scheduling rule operating in conjunction with the team structure. The performance and workload of the team is determined by the energy demands of the tasks and the energy capacity of the team member. The model is implemented in the object oriented language CLOS operating within the SYMBOLICS Genera environment. The results of initial validation studies are described.
