ABSTRACT

In June 2002 BSM introduced a new driving instructor training programme, which revolutionized the way BSM looked at instructor training. Previously there was a training programme that focused on getting people through the three parts of the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) qualifying driving instructor examination by spoon-feeding trainees along the way. Trainees were expected to learn sequences off by heart which could be used to teach people how to drive and were encouraged to separate the three parts of the examination; knowledge/theory from practical from instructional. Many people dropped out of the programme and the pass rates were poor.
