ABSTRACT

United Engineers was formed in 1912 by the amalgamation of Riley Hargreaves & Co. (1865) and Howarth Erskine & Co. (1875). Soon a erwards, it acquired the Federated Engineering Co. of Kuala Lumpur to become the largest supplier of heavy equipment in the region, operating in ailand, Hong Kong and China as well as in Malaya. Today, the group employs 5,000 workers and has a presence in twelve Asian countries and revenues of $2,012m (31 December 2013).1
