ABSTRACT
This chapter shows that fluidity of boundaries between the confession stelai of Asia Minor and anatomical votives of the region. It suggests how by transgressing boundaries and by viewing some confession stelai as anatomical votives, there are significant implications for both corpora of material. Through a comparison of the two corpora we have seen significant parallels of iconography, presentation and language which highlight how the circumscription of confession stelai has hinged on the relative elaboration. Similarity in appearance between the two corpora is not enough to suggest that dedicants of anatomical votives were similarly motivated or possessed the same religious mentality as the dedicants of confession stelai. The chapter suggests that the stelai were not products of an isolated culture. It describes the similarity of confession stelai and anatomical votives, there must have been a reason why someone would employ one form of epigraphic expression over the other.
