ABSTRACT

One of the more significant kinds of water fightback stories taking place in recent years has to do with communities that have struggled to regain public control of their municipal water services after they have been privatized. Citizen activists and public service workers have also been emphasizing water quality issues in their anti-privatization campaigns. Although widespread resistance has been organized against the damming of river systems and protests against the privatization of water systems are on the rise, the fightback against water exports is only in the early stages of development. The anti-dam movement has been at the forefront of the fightback for water rights around the world. Although anti-dam protests have been at the forefront of the fight for water rights, people all over the world have become increasingly involved in a wide range of community struggles to stop the theft of their water.
