ABSTRACT

We have been favored with a personal relation, by Mr. Winston, 1 President of the Mutual Life, of some of the incidents and observations of his late tour to the Pacific coast. They are interesting from many points of view, and have a value to the insurance world, that warrants a recital of them in these columns. The immense business of the Mutual in California, made it desirable that that field should be inspected by an officer of the company, and it was in prosecution of a long contemplated plan that Mr. Winston made this present tour.
