ABSTRACT

Sir, – “How could you ever be such a fool as to insure in the Albert?” was the startling inquiry put to me by an intelligent friend, a thorough man of business, when I consulted him upon the misfortune which had befallen me in connexion with this unlucky office. I do not mean to say he used those very words. He was euphuistic; but what he said, and how he said it, clearly meant, being interpreted, “How could you ever be such a fool as to insure in the Albert?”
