ABSTRACT

A European immigrant in Venezuela who had arrived at the end of 1940 founded the Perez Diaz Family Group. Twenty years afterward, he became one of the first entrepreneurs to industrialize the poultry business in Venezuela. The family group is vertically integrated, controlling a group of companies dedicated to animal production, feed manufacturing, and egg processing. Venezuela has been a traditional oil producer with one of the most important reserves of oil in the world. Poultry plays a relevant role in food security and nutrition, especially in developing countries. Traditionally, Venezuela has been considered as the sixth largest producer in Latin America. The egg production industry involves several processes. Perez Diaz Family Group is vertically integrated into all these phases of the process. The history of the family group started in 1949 when the founder began to work in agriculture. In 1991, Mr. Perez founded the first company participated in only by family members without other nonfamily partners.
