ABSTRACT

This chapter presents general guidelines for publishing secondary qualitative analyses. The structure of this type of secondary analysis journal article is discussed along with suggestions for diagrams and tables that can be used to highlight secondary analysis methods and findings. Keywords listed for an article should include secondary qualitative analysis to help identify it for persons searching databases. Due to the need to describe both the primary and secondary studies, it can be easy for a reader to get confused in the complexity involved in secondary analysis. In addition to a diagram that presents key elements of both the primary and secondary research designs, tables and figures can be created to highlight the findings of the secondary analysis and provide the grab that is desired in qualitative research. The chapter explain guidelines for publishing secondary qualitative analyses and provides an outline for the structure for a journal article reporting secondary qualitative analysis.
