ABSTRACT
Child authors can become familiar quite quickly with the style of writing associated with newspaper reporting given the easy access they have to them in digital formats via the internet. In order for child authors to be able to write quality newspaper reports, it is vital that they are able to understand what bias is and the importance of remaining balanced in their writing. Without this basic understanding there is a danger that child authors will become biased in their newspaper report writing. Get child authors to work as Caption Collaborators, writing two or three suitable captions on a sticky label to accompany an illustration. The prominence of the media in our lives is increasing at an incredible pace; as a result, child authors professionals work with have access to the news through a wide and varied range of sources. This arguably provides them with both a positive and negative influence.
