ABSTRACT

Discussion on railway noise has become very important issue in a few European countries, especially in those, where extent of railway transport is increasing and is playing more and more important role in greening of transport. Railway noise is a problem mainly in central and western Europe. In this article, the authors presented percentage share of emission of railway noise expressed by rates LAeqD and LAeqN for 86 points in railway traffic. Classification of vehicles, tracks and supporting structures for measurements of noise level and locations of equal sources of noise was presented. The division of emitted noise depending on mechanism of emission was made and noise of turning, traction, aerodynamical, squeals and noise caused by acoustic influence of the objects of infrastructure, for example, bridges and viaducts was distinguished.
