ABSTRACT

Production in fishery industry makes substantial contribution to employment and so it plays an important role in Turkish economy. Obviously, fishing profession is so difficult due to such as prevalent risk of unemployment, low income, dangerous job conditions, mental stress, heavy weather conditions, selfreported stress levels and so on. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of burnout level on job satisfaction of fishermen and evaluate the burnout and job satisfaction levels of fishermen. A questionnaire which is about burnout and job satisfaction has been adapted for fisheries sector and conducted by means of face to face interviews engaged in Bay of Izmir. The purpose of the conduction is to reveal the effects of burnout level on job satisfaction among 41 fishermen in five sub-regions of Aegean sea. The data obtained from the surveys were transferred to the IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) V-22 program, and significance tests of the difference between the means of the groups and necessary descriptive statistics (frequency) and multi-dimensional linear regression method were performed to reach the aims of the study.
