ABSTRACT
Seafarers were faced with many negative factors in this profession. Piracy is one of the factors of this negative contributing cause for seafarer. In this study causes of piracy occurred in the seas, and measures to be taken were discussed in order to reduce or prevent such adverse events. Besides, factors have been identified that lead to piracy occurred in seas and have tried to present the alternative solutions can be applied on this issue. However, causes of piracy can be extremely complex. Therefore, scientific methods should be used to evaluate the causes and determine measures need to be taken. Severity of the reasons that led to the piracy and relationships with each other identified by using fuzzy AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method.
