ABSTRACT

Mission, vision, and values provide direction to an organization. They may also play a role in attracting potential clients. The mission of an organization indicates the very purpose of its existence; what it is trying to achieve and how. A hospital's mission statement generally indicates what type of services it provides, for example, single-specialty or multispecialty, and to whom. Some hospitals highlight the expertise of their professionals or the quality of care that they provide, while others stress the affordability of their services. The vision of an organization indicates its ambition: how it intends to grow in the long term, say in 5 or 10 years. Some healthcare organizations claim to value "client interest" as the foremost consideration in all their dealings and business. Organizations achieve their mission and vision through strategic management. If there are several options available to an organization to achieve its objectives, the option it adopts is known as its "strategy."
