ABSTRACT
This chapter highlights the importance of a well-defined and executed shop floor management system. Clearly, an unstable process is unpredictable. An unpredictable process can never be capable or efficient. Daily shop floor management plays a key role in achieving and maintaining an environment of operational excellence. However, before embarking directly on this topic, let's explore the idea of a sustainable culture and consider ways to facilitate it as a conduit for operational excellence. Lessons learned is about capturing and leveraging knowledge gained from past experiences and outcomes to improve the way work is performed. It can provide valuable insight into an organization's continuous improvement efforts. By considering things gone right and things gone wrong, companies can build on their strengths and recognize opportunities to address weaknesses.
