ABSTRACT

Although there is a wide variety of books and numerous journal articles written on Bayesian approaches in the analysis of data, not much has been written about reporting of these analyses, particularly as this pertains to clinical research. The sparse available literature on reporting of Bayesian analyses points out to some common themes that may help make reporting of Bayesian analyses more comprehensible to the reader, especially those not familiar with the approach. In this chapter, a variety of these key considerations for good practice in Bayesian reporting are discussed. A checklist taking into account several key aspects of Bayesian analysis is proposed that can be useful in ensuring standardization of the reporting of Bayesian analyses, including design, interpretation, analyses, and documentation, particularly in the regulatory setting. A hypothetical example is used to illustrate some of the considerations presented in the checklist.
