ABSTRACT

Understanding where the viewer will be watching the experience and tailoring for the platform is an important aspect of the creation process for 360-degree video, as different platforms offer different kinds of inputs for the viewer to look around. Projects are built with a variety of techniques including volumetric video, photogrammetry and 3D modeling. Immersive narratives and news pieces occasionally include a scripted voice-over, or captions. In a multimedia project, immersive media can be employed as a component to add a sense of place. Immersive media opens up new possibilities for audio, which is as essential as imagery in creating an immersive environment. Audio for immersive media opens up a world of possibilities in that sound can come from anywhere in a scene, whereas earlier formats were always tied to a finite number of speakers in a room.
