ABSTRACT

Currently, most people are living in semi-unhealthy conditions such that they can neither be termed as particularly ill nor completely healthy. The incidences of chronic degenerative diseases, such as stroke, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, cancer, diabetes, chronic hepatic diseases, chronic gastroenterocolitis, and chronic cardiac disease, are increasing drastically and in many instances are proving fatal. Furthermore, these health issues are turning into social problems owing to a higher incidence not only among adults but also in children. Medicines are largely used with an aim to treat diseases caused by infectious agents during undernourished conditions, which act as one of the susceptibility factors. However, the individuals who have acquired a chronic degenerative disease can hardly recover from deteriorating health conditions. Therefore, preventive medicine is indispensable to maintain and improve individuals’ current health so as to prevent them from contracting such diseases. It is well known that many changes in the health conditions of people these days are consequences of alterations in lifestyle and living environment, especially with respect to diet.
