ABSTRACT

The chapter covers the Sharia duties of a government, freedom in Sharia, sharia prohibitions, and the size of the government. A government is an absolutely needed natural entity that emerges spontaneously in any community. Quran and Sunnah have detailed the natural role of the state. The laws of justice, sanctity of life, freedom, human rights, and property rights are fully established in Quran and Sunna, and should never be violated. The preservation of justice, safety, and property rights are the attributions of the government. Health is a priority attribution of the state to which large amounts of resources have to be devoted for the construction and operation of hospitals and primary care centers. Sanitation infrastructure is essential to prevent dangerous diseases such as cholera or malaria. Infrastructure, in the form of schools, hospitals, and roads, contributes to economic growth and enhances the community welfare.
