ABSTRACT

All teachers have experienced that magic feeling of seeing something that they have learnt change things for the better for their students. Sadly, many teachers also experience frustrations, struggling to keep on top of the challenges and changes that are needed. Evaluative practitioners are teachers and staff who constantly assess the impact of their practice and professional learning on students. Professional learning is a key to supporting teachers. Every professional learning opportunity needs to tap into the best ideas out there, not just an idea that feels new or interesting within their school. Responsive Professional Learning is where all the programmes, activities and principles of new learning for staff are driven by and respond to what is happening at the organisational edge. Responsive Profession al Learning enables success at the organisational edge and enables teachers and staff to become evaluative practitioners. Unresponsive development is about broadcasting ideas at teachers.
