ABSTRACT

A highly skilled athlete can be called dominant, an experienced coach referred to as a legend and a published professor described as an expert; however, what label is given to an individual who continues to explore a path within these three domains? Life experiences can be extremely powerful when athletic events, educational pursuits and work opportunities are linked and inform subsequent endeavours. As a result, a unique autoethnographic narrative can be told. This is a young professional’s’ story of the athletic experiences that motivated the study of athlete-centred tenets, subsequent attempts to put athlete-centred coaching research into action and the reality of the learning that has emerged thus far.
