ABSTRACT
One of the main reasons for the popularity of MPC in industry is the ability to incorporate constraint handling in a systematic as opposed to an ad hoc manner. Nevertheless, this issue has been left until last because constraints have a significant impact on closed-loop behaviour and it was important that this impact did not distract from the reader understanding the foundational principles and good design in MPC.
