ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 introduces the development process and the current research status of high-temperature co-electrolysis (HTCE) with SOC through a timeline. From the 1960s to the present, great progress has been made in this field. At present, the development of high-temperature CO2/H2O co-electrolysis is advancing at rates never seen before, and this development is brought about by the application of synthesis gas as a feedstock for chemical synthesis and the increasing demand for clean, renewable synthetic fuels. In addition, the research priorities and targets of HTCE exhibit regional development differences worldwide, depending on national conditions and government financial support. The research status of HTCE with SOC in the United States, Europe, and China is discussed in specific case studies.
