ABSTRACT

In many ways, distorted and poor thinking, including particular mind-sets and beliefs, may also be seen as playing out within the minds of those who use common violence. The journey from violence to peace could only be made by those who could challenge and overturn their thinking about its use. There may be more specific ways of thinking associated with the particular area of common violence that is most relevant to the person. The thinking of a young person bullying another in school will not be the same as an older man who has been controlling and abusive within relationships for many years. The conversation may move on when the person acknowledges that any of us can be limited in our thinking and that each of us needs to keep thinking critically about issues in life and to be careful of unhelpful thinking.
