ABSTRACT

Traditionally, we would use a low ISO setting, such as ISO 100 or 200, in bright light and high ISO settings in low light situations. The lower the light, the higher the ISO we'd need to get a hand-held photograph. When we are using a tripod or a speedlite, ISO becomes much less of an issue. When we are thinking about taking wide-angle photographs, think about panoramas. This panorama shows a wider view, almost a complete view of the waterfall and rapids. It's a six-shot pano, stitched together in Lightroom. Check out The Magic of the Digital Darkroom chapter to learn more about making panoramas. A nice or interesting gesture, combined with photographing at a slow shutter speed, can often result in a creative photograph. Compare this photograph with the next photograph. The gesture of the men's hands, combined with photographing at a slow shutter speed, produced a photograph that conveys the action that happens when playing dominos.
