ABSTRACT
Interconnections of computers and their components have reached a new level of quality for private users and organizations as well with the deployment of wireless technologies. The development of WLAN was a milestone in this process. WLANs bring with them their very specific security re-quirements, which will be the subject of this chapter.
The following aspects will be covered in detail: WLAN general features, security requirements, overview of the relevant standards, ISO layers and encryption, supplemented by: WLAN architec-tures, components, application examples and a security checklist.
