ABSTRACT

An interactive graphical user interface (GUI) was developed to capture, save, and filter digital video in real time, with the Matlab platform. The system developed supports different types of video capturing devices, like: Matrox Inc, Coreco Imaging Inc, Data Translation Inc, DCAM (IEEE 1394, Fire Wire), Windows Driver Model (WDM), or Video for Windows (VFW) drivers (USB e IEEE 1394 Web Cameras, Digital Video Camcorders and TV tuner card), the frames are treated in matrix manner for their real-time visualization and filtering through spatial convolution with the different filters implemented. This solution to video acquisition may be used to treat digital video efficiently, given that the frames are in matrix form, thus enabling the application of many treatment techniques of images and digital video.
