ABSTRACT

488. A preposition in English, in so far as it serves to express the relationship in which one person or thing stands to another, corresponds to a Logbara postposition. While normally the preposition (as the name implies) is placed before a noun or noun-equivalent, in Logbara it is regularly placed after (post-) it. So it is right and proper in this chapter to use the term postposition, in order to avoid a contradiction in terms.
