ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study of clinical legal education in conflict zones, shedding light on the gap between the legal regime as it is; as it should be and the ways in which Al-Quds University deals with this gap. Designing a clinical legal education programme and providing pro-bono legal services in any legal context is not easy, but in the Occupied Palestinian Territories it has proved uniquely complicated, due largely to the nature of the legal system that functions there. This chapter examines some of the challenges faced in teaching human rights advocacy within an unjust system.
