ABSTRACT
The border is the future. The border zone is a speculative frontier of open possibility, of constant renewal and reconfiguring, and future plans. And it is a place where a new story emerges, one that is surprising, full of possibility and unexpected turns. If we heed the creative pulse of the borderlands, we might, like the speculative cultural productions or imaginative city plans that take place in these spaces, forge new remedies and directions for imagining the future of the border and migrant labor that defines, enhances, passes through, and inhabits these liminal zones.
