ABSTRACT

Costs have been expressed within a range, although this is not to suggest that figures outside this range will not be encountered, but simply that the calibre of such a type of building can itself vary significantly. Prices can vary greatly between regions and even between individual sites. Professional interpretation will always need to be applied in the final analysis. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has launched 'RICS Property Measurement', which in part, replaces the Code of Measuring Practice for office buildings. The RICS Property Measurement incorporates the International Property Measurement Standards (IPMS) for offices, whilst the Code of Measuring Practice 6th Edition remains in effect for all other building types. IPMS was formed in 2013 at the World Bank, with the objective to provide global standardization for measurement of the built environment. It now comprises of more than 70 organizations including RICS.
