ABSTRACT

Nutrition plays a crucial role in athlete health, fitness and training ability and thus has a direct impact on athlete performance. Sports nutrition is a field of study dealing with proper training and a sensible approach to nutrition to ensure the maximum benefits regarding athletic performance, body composition and optimal health and wellness. It is impossible to recommend a single diet plan for all athletes; it varies in each individual and the type of sport. Endurance sports are a collection of many competitive sports in which each athlete exercises or works out his crucial muscles at submaximal intensity for long periods of time. The term includes cycling, swimming, running, wrestling, and weightlifting. Bioenergetics is the study of energy production and expenditure in a living organism performing different biological functions. Energy exchange takes place through aerobic and anaerobic conditions through the multi-step enzymic pathway.
