ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the characteristics of different socialization experiences and their effectiveness but, deals with some settings. It focuses on home contributions to development at school. Statistical or experimental manipulations which show the effects of preschool experience or learning on the transition to school learning, independently of the general indices of social class and ethnicity, will be particularly pertinent. The content and form of that communication can have profound effects on the behaviour of each socialization agent and the setting events which might contribute to interactions. Urie Bronfenbrenner offers the following predictions about the potential for match or mismatch between socialization settings. The correlations are particularly strong with material expressions of that reality such as conditions of crowding, poor amenities and lack of personal, social and material resources. The ongoing dynamic interrelationships between learners and their tutors functioning in social contexts is what research should focus on.
