ABSTRACT

Tech companies such as Google, Netflix and Spotify aren't just generating rows and columns, they're in the business of big data. There is so much that can be written about the use of business intelligence (BI) and data analytics in sport, its challenges and the opportunities. Business Analytics is looking in front of people to see what is going to happen. BI is important to improve people's decision-making based on past results, while business analytics will help people move forward and understand what might be going to happen. When we use predictive analysis we're looking at current and historical data to make predictions about the future. In the same way the growth in the use of data has been exponential, so too has the proliferation of new and often confusing terminology related to the use of data.
