ABSTRACT

Building on chapters 6 and 7 , this chapter looks at the practical and theoretical challenges in guiding children’s behaviour from a sociological perspective. Children do not start out equal, with some being privileged and others disadvantaged. We explore what can be done to make education fairer for all children, rather than reproducing existing social hierarchies. Through positive strategies and a careful understanding of historical disadvantages within society, teachers can intervene thoughtfully, enabling a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all.
