ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book is about explaining the variety and richness of ethics as they impact the industry now, and how they will guide the future. Very early in the twenty-first century, if the subject of ethics surfaced in fashion discussions it was side stepped, or rejected, as it was perceived as too theoretical, or farfetched. Yet the term emerged every so often in arguments regarding sustainability, on garment labels, or writers would refer to 'ethically made', and 'ethical manufacture'. Being mindful of the flux and movement of fashion as industry professionals, it is becoming clearer that ethics are increasingly important. Ignorance of the hazards and their probable cause and outcomes has never been a viable moral excuse, more so now. Job specifications identify hard and soft skills sets: it is stimulating then to speculate where fashion ethics lie.
