ABSTRACT

"Postmodernism", generally speaking, appears after the emergence of "modernism". The particularity of the traditional culture has meant that the modernization of China requires postmodernism to be the frame of reference and the measuring standard of selective inheritance. The legitimacy of law in Chinese traditional society does not depend on an ultimate basis, while the grounds for orders lie in the inherent "contextual morals" and "social exchanges" among individuals. Black has conducted research into law and social life from the standpoint of scientists and puts an emphasis on the correspondent relations between changes in law and spatial positions, such as the relational distance. As is commonly known, the 20th century was full of wars and revolutions, which leads people to question what the 21st century will be like. Although the conflicts among different civilizations predicted by Huntington may not occur, international friction is not inevitable. The emergence and settlement of international friction rely mostly on the balance of power.
