ABSTRACT
Energy is essential to all human activities as well as critical to social and economic development. Sustainable energy planning encompassing the concept of smart cities has a high potential to significantly contribute to climate change mitigation. For improved energy efficiency, it is essential to find low carbon solutions for the urban environment. The integration and management of energy supply with predominant exploitation of local resources is examined through the fundamental concept of exergy.
