ABSTRACT

Latinxs in the media, and media for Latinxs, has mirrored the growing demographic and noticeability of Latinxs. As Latinxs have increased as a significant sector of the population in the United States, the more that increase has been reflected in media. Media entrepreneurs in New York traveled to San Juan to buy Puerto Rican variety shows for New York’s Puerto Rican audiences. Latinxs have become an impactful presence on social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Remezcla is representative of a relatively development in media for Latinxs. Rather than presenting the content in Spanish, the target audience are English-speaking Latinxs. Latinxs in the media, as well as the ones who watch them, celebrate their success and progress, but they also continue to understand that there is much further to go in the central part of the national identity. Latinxs are as diverse a group, with all nature of niche interests, as any in the United States.
