ABSTRACT

In this chapter, existing leadership theories have been briefly described and used to help explain leadership tactics and behavior as well as their effects on others. The descriptions of leadership theories make the leaders’ effects, which are described in later chapters, more understandable and clarify how the theories relate to leadership in action. The leadership theory descriptions along with the references to them at the end of each snapshot, explain how the great leaders achieved their amazing feats. If these theory descriptions increase the reader’s understanding of the leadership process, then this chapter has served its purpose. The leadership matrix at the end of the chapter relates the “great”, “you decide” and “bad” leaders described in this book with the leadership theories in this chapter
