ABSTRACT

The arguments of Experiments 1 and 2 as well as the arguments of Volume 2 have the form A → B/C → D, where A9 B, C, and D stand for conjunctions or disjunctions with either prime propositions or negated prime propositions as constituents. Accordingly, the operations discussed so far are such that both the upper and lower formulas are conditionals. The present experiment was designed to extend the theory to operations pertinent to a broader class of arguments. A new set of operations was used to derive new experimental arguments. In Chapter 11 these new operations are intercalated with the old operations of Table 8.1 to produce a still more powerful theory.
