ABSTRACT
This final data substantive chapter examines the role of locality and community in the lives of British Buddhist women. By highlighting lesser-known stories of community building and development (including the building of particular places of Buddhist practice), the contribution that women have made to the establishment of Buddhism in Britain is brought to the fore. In this chapter, the significance of immediate locality and community relationships is emphasised. A key argument follows that although global flows of information and people retain their significance, for British Buddhist women, local communities of practice and personal connections remain paramount.
