ABSTRACT

The process of Risk Management, i.e. devising strategies to reduce the likelihood and impact of challenging behaviours, is an important long-term strategy to support both staff and pupils. Risk Management involves reducing the likelihood of the risks occurring and minimising the impact of the risks should they occur. The Action Plan should help to identify individual targets for the pupils which can be transferred to their Individual Behaviour Plan/Pastoral Support Plan (IEP/BSP). It may be found that as the Action Plan is implemented it needs amending in order to take account of unforeseen circumstances. The plan is a record of a dynamic process and will need to take account of changes that may occur over time. The importance of ownership of the plan is crucial to the monitoring and reviewing process. A key adult must be identified to take responsibility for ensuring the plan is implemented.
