ABSTRACT

Magazines are significant sources of information and entertainment. They attract less academic commentary than newspapers even though as a genre of journalism they are weathering the digital revolution storm with more success, partly thanks to globalisation and partly to widespread brand extension. This chapter outlines the areas the book will cover as it explores aspects of periodical journalism and publishing likely to be of use to those who want to editorial jobs on magazines.
